On behalf of our school community, it is a pleasure to welcome you to our website. Kaimes School is a special school for learners with complex needs, including autism, located in the south east of The City of Edinburgh. Our school roll is 90 learners, ranging from S1 to S6. Whether you are a prospective family, a current member of our school community, or someone wanting to learn more about Kaimes School, I hope our website gives you a sense of what makes Kaimes School such a special place.
Every young person who walks through our doors is unique. We take time to understand each learner as an individual because we believe the best learning begins with knowing every young person well. Through strong relationships we aim to create an environment where everyone feels valued and ready to learn. We believe every young person deserves to be understood, to experience success and to leave Kaimes ready to embrace the opportunities that lie ahead.
At Kaimes School, we have high aspirations for our learners and recognise that success will look different for each young person. Through a broad and meaningful curriculum and a wealth of experiences beyond the classroom, we aim to support learners to achieve their goals and prepare them for a fulfilling life beyond school. Building relationships, developing friendships and learning to navigate social and everyday situations are all important parts of growing up, and we provide support and opportunities for every learner to develop these key skills.
Families are at the heart of this work. We know that young people achieve their best when schools and families work together, and we are committed to building relationships based on trust, openness, collaboration and shared ambition.
As Head Teacher, I am incredibly proud of our learners and the dedicated staff who support them. Each day, I see young people developing new skills, overcoming challenges, supporting one another and growing in confidence. It is a privilege to be a part of their journey.
